RESULTS OF THE MOOSAO REVIEW AND COMPETITION IN NIZHNY NOVGOROD
 
MOOSAO - This year, the Interregional Public Organization for Promoting Architectural Education held the XXVIII International Review and Contest of the best final qualifying works in architecture, design and art. The annual all-Union review-contest of the best diploma projects of architectural universities and faculties of the country was established in the 1970s by the Council for Architectural Education of the Union of Architects of the USSR in order to identify modern trends in the field of architectural education. By the beginning of the XXI century MOOSAO included more than 50 members - domestic architectural schools and neighboring countries. Over time, the review-contest has expanded the content of the competition - along with diploma projects in architecture, diploma projects in design began to participate. This year the venue of the competition was the FSBEI Higher Educational Institution "Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering". (NNGASU) - Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
 
 
The Kazakh Head Academy of Architecture and Construction has been taking part in the best diploma project shows and contests for many years. At the XXVIII International Review-Competition of the best final qualifying works in architecture, design and art of KazGASA showed high results.
The Faculty of Architecture presented 26 works, including master's theses. All works were awarded first and second degree diplomas of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Belarus.

Following the results of the literature competition, the following publications received the first degree diplomas:

BIM DAY KAZGOR in KazGASA
 
On October 10, 2019, the KAZGOR Project Academy organized a unique BIM DAY KAZGOR event within the walls of KazGASA, aimed at improving the quality of knowledge of future BIM specialists.
 
 
The President of the Project Academy Aidar Abdysagitovich Tatigulov opened the event with a video greeting in which he noted the importance of such events for the development and competitiveness of young designers.
More than 120 people participated in BIM DAY - 2nd-5th year students and faculty of the university.
Leading architects, BIM-managers and project management specialists of KAZGOR PA shared their practical knowledge with the audience and answered important questions that will help future colleagues to make the start of their careers a real success.
During the event, the participants listened to 12 lectures, including one: "History of BIM development. The most important thing about BIM", "Basic requirements for BIM-specialists", "Design process in BIM-environment (software Revit) on the example of Hitech school", "BIM and project management - key aspects of effective implementation of construction industry projects", "Environmental aspects in BIM design", "Visual programming in design", "Useful Lifehouses for young architects", "Reconstruction - Battersea Power Station", "BIM in the UK".
Maria Shirokova, Director of the Centre for Technological Development "BIM+ Laboratory", as an invited guest, presented actual and interesting information on "General data environment: basic component of BIM technology", "Sydney Opera House: experience of BIM application for reconstruction and operation of buildings".
At the end of the event the certificates for mini-training in KAZGOR PA were drawn and various gifts were presented. Following the results of the event, certificates were issued, a poster and a video clip were produced.
BIM DAY was held at a high level, as evidenced by the numerous feedback from teachers and students. Representatives of KazGASS proposed such a format of events with the participation of employees of PA KAZGOR provBIM DAY KAZGOR in KazGASS

ARCHITECT RAINER MAKHLAMYAKI: “MODERN FINNISH ARCHITECTURE OF 1920-2020”
 
On November 29, 2019, a lecture of Finnish architect Rainer Makhlamyaki was held at KazGASA. The speaker’s arrival in Almaty was organized by urban organization Urban Forum Kazakhstan in the framework of “Cities and People” program. Adil Nurmakov, co-founder of Urban Forum Kazakhstan, welcomed the audience, introduced the guest and spoke a little about the activity of his organization.
 
 
 “Cities and People” is an educational project that provides the invitation of world-class experts in the field of urban studies and architecture to have lectures, conduct workshops and seminars at Kazakhstan.
Participants in public lectures and specialized workshops organized by Urban Forum Kazakhstan are professional architects, urban planners, officials and active citizens.
The current guest of the project “Cities and People” is a famous Finnish architect Rainer Makhlamyaki combines teaching practice at University of Oulu (since 1997) with active architectural practice. In 2007-2011, R. Makhlamyaki was a head of Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA), he is an authoritative expert in the field of vernacular (folk) and memorial architecture.
In 1997, together with a partner, the architect established the Lahdelma & Mahlamäki bureau, which designs office and residential buildings, develops large-scale urban planning concepts and has unique experience in creating educational, museum and exhibition complexes. Architects of Lahdelma & Mahlamäki bureau won awards in 35 architectural competitions; implemented the construction of such well-known objects as the Museum of History of Polish Jewish people in Warsaw and Haltia Nature Center of Finland.
A lecture of  R. Makhlamyaki in KazGASA was devoted to the architecture of Finland in 1920-2020 and demonstrated its most authentic samples. The speaker made a special emphasis on the latest projects of public buildings, using innovative technologies in design and construction.
At the end of the lecture R. Makhlamyaki answered numerous questions of participants - students and teachers of KazGASA, other universities, representatives of companies and public organizations. At the end of the event, the participants thanked Rainer Makhlamyaki for the informative lecture, and Urban Forum Kazakhstan and his leader Asel Yeszhanova thanked for the opportunity to communicate with high-class professionals and expressed hope that such events for students of Almaty universities will become a good tradition.
